142% increase in shipments in 2016.
16 December 2016
The InPost Group closed 2016 with a 142 % increase in the number of parcels handled. The growth is mainly due to the courier segment, which recorded 405 % more volume last year than in 2015.
Strong growth was recorded in e-commerce registered mail, which gained 149% in 2016. InPost's Parcel Machines® segment continued to grow steadily, handling 79 % more parcels compared to 2015. The record month was December, in which InPost delivered 15 % of the annual volume.
We launched our courier offer very recently, in July 2015. In just 18 months, we have expanded the courier business to a level that our competitors had to reach for many years. We are already a significant player in the logistics sector, and we have not said the last word. We will consistently expand our market presence so as to become number one on the Polish market for modern logistics for e-commerce in the next few years. In 2017, the most important thing will be to maintain a high growth rate, although this will not be an easy task after such a record year as last year, as well as to expand our customer service departments both online and offline - Rafał Brzoska, CEO of Integer.pl Group, said.
He added that one way to maintain the high growth rate in volumes handled would be to increase the Parcel Machine network by nearly 50%. To the existing ones at the end of 2016 2200 machines InPost will add a further 1000 machines in 2017. "This year we have two priorities: smaller towns where there have not been Paczkomaty up to now, and the biggest Polish cities where, as the last year has shown, the capacity of the existing machines is already insufficient. In such places we will be expanding the existing Paczkomaty and adding new ones nearby to relieve the pressure on the most popular locations." - Brzoska said.
An interesting feature of 2016 was the large monthly variation in terms of the channels chosen in each month. As in previous years, November and December were the record months, during which, invariably for years, consumers most frequently ordered delivery of their purchases via all channels, i.e. both the parcel and courier channels. However, in the other months, Parcel Machines were more frequently chosen in April, May and September, while delivery by courier We opted for InPost more often in June, July and August.
"Regardless of the delivery channel chosen, the most important thing for an e-commerce business is that both services can be ordered from InPost under one roof. We are the only logistics operator in Poland that offers the widest portfolio of services in the domestic market, from e-commerce registered letter to courier services including express courier to Parcel Post." - underlines Rafał Brzoska
InPost is not only one of the most important logistics operators for e-commerce in Poland, but also an increasingly popular operator in international traffic. In December 2016. The Group launched a new service that allows, via Polish Paczkomaty, to send a parcel directly to Paczkomaty in the UK, Czech Republic and Slovakia. To most of the other 15 EU countries, you can send a parcel at a Parcel Machine or InPost's own branch, and collect it via courier or at a stationary partner outlet.
