„ Our research confirms that for online shoppers the most important thing is that paying is convenient and fast just like e-shopping itself. That is why established a partnership with InPost to equip the company's couriers with payment terminals . This will enable consumers who choose cash on delivery to make a convenient and secure cashless transaction using contactless technology, the benefits of which they have grown accustomed to ", she said Kamila Kaliszyk, market development director at the Polish branch of Mastercard® Europe.
Payment of postage at courier InPost looks the same as in stationary shops. It can be made using any payment card, traditional or contactless, or a phone with an appropriate application supporting contactless mobile payments (bank or Android Pay). The card or phone needs to be brought close to the terminal and, for amounts over PLN 50, the card's PIN number must also be entered on the terminal.
The new cashless payment option will mainly benefit consignees. Thanks to contactless terminals, they can make a payment in a few to several seconds. They do not have to carry cash or look for an ATM when the courier delivers their parcel.
The demand for courier services is growing dynamically, mainly due to the increasing popularity of e-commerce. However, a peculiarity of the Polish market is that consumers exceptionally often pay for online purchases in cash. According to last year's "Survey of the Openness of Polish Consumers to Innovative Payment Methods" commissioned by Mastercard®, as many as 22% of online shoppers choose the cash-on-delivery option. From now on, using this method, they will also be able to pay cashless.
