PGP implements EPO in Warsaw

"The Warsaw appellation is the largest concentration of population and courts in Poland, so the implementation of the EPO is very important for the smooth functioning of justice in this part of the country." - said Witold Szczurek, President of the Management Board of PGP S.A.

The EPO completely replaces the so-called 'returns', i.e. paper forms that have to be filled in and sent to the sender after receiving correspondence. The Polish Postal Group has already implemented Electronic Confirmation of Receipt in 192 courts across Poland, including, among others, Wrocław, Poznań, Łódź, Krakow, Białystok, Kielce, Ostrołęka, Łomża, Olsztyn and Suwałki.

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice report that, thanks to the EPO, the average time for the circulation of parcel information has been reduced from 18.4 days to 6.7, which has an impact on, among other things, the reduction in the number of deferred proceedings. "We cannot imagine today that the winner of the next procedure might not guarantee such a service" -. said, quoted by the daily Puls Biznesu, Wojciech Hajduk, Deputy Minister of Justice.

On the technical side, the EPO works in the same way. The difference is that instead of a paper acknowledgement of receipt, the addressee signs on a dedicated electronic device. Through this device, information about the receipt of correspondence online, in real time, goes straight to the computer of the judge in charge of the case. The whole operation speeds up the circulation of court correspondence in a revolutionary way and takes only a few seconds compared to the several days required by a paper acknowledgement of receipt.

"It is worth noting that the Polish Postal Group is the only postal operator in Poland that has a working and tested EPO software. No other operator in the country, including Poczta Polska, which has powerful financial resources at its disposal and announced the implementation of EPO back in 2010, has managed to build such a system." - said Witold Szczurek.

EPO is a solution that meets the needs not only of courts, but also of other institutions interested in efficient and fast delivery of correspondence requiring acknowledgement of receipt. At the beginning of the year, PLAY, one of the leaders of the Polish mobile telephony market, joined the EPO users. PGP also won a tender announced by the provincial police headquarters in Lublin and delivers letters from 52 police stations in the Lublin voivodeship.

Electronic Receipt Confirmation was the winner of the Innovation of the Year 2014 competition. The EPO project was very highly rated by the competition's chapter as an innovation that has a very strong impact on the functioning of the market and customers of almost all sectors of the economy. The Innovation of the Year programme is carried out under the auspices of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the FIRE Innovation Centre Foundation.

The Polish Postal Group is one of the technological leaders of the Polish postal market, providing delivery services in Poland and all countries belonging to the World Postal Union. In its delivery process, PGP uses the most modern sorting lines. The entire process is supported by an IT system that records the daily movement of parcels. This makes it possible to track them at each stage of distribution and allows for ongoing accounting of individual operations.

In December 2014, InPost - the largest private postal operator in Poland - finalised the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Polska Grupa Pocztowa SA (PGP). The companies integrated their operational structures and the formal acquisition of the shares was the final stage in the PGP acquisition process. This will increase InPost's potential for mail handling, including public contracts. However, PGP will remain a separate company and a brand dedicated to the business customer requiring advanced postal services. Recently, InPost won a tender for the handling of correspondence from KRUS valued at almost PLN 23 million. In addition, InPost, together with PGP, has been handling the correspondence of common courts and prosecutors' offices for a year - the two-year contract is worth almost PLN 500 million and covers 100 million items.
