A courier's job is not enough: 6 questions for football enthusiast Simon
9 December 2019
Our couriers are distinguished not only by their fast pace, but also by their passions, which they passionately pursue after work. Meet Szymon, who cannot imagine life without football and who regenerates his strength by tinkering in his garage. What does he like best about his job as a courier? What advice does he have for people who want to try themselves in this role? Read our interview!
Szymon, you have been working at InPost for three years now. However, you are no stranger to tasks courier because you have been in the industry for 13 years. How do you recall your best day working for our company?
The best days at work are when I don't encounter any unexpected difficulties and manage to get all the parcels to the recipients quickly. 😊 After a full day, I can go home in peace and spend time with my family or tinkering with my car.
What do you like best about your job as a courier?
Above all, contact with people! I can always experience something new - new routes, places, and acquaintances - so there is no room for boredom. There's no denying that I also love driving!
When you are not working, you ... ?
You could say I'm a workaholic, because I always find something to do! (laughs) Whenever I have some time, I spend it with my family, I do small jobs around the house or garden and of course I devote it to my hobbies. I tinker with cars, I do repairs, I make small modifications. For me, the garage is a place where I can relax and unwind. I also used to play football professionally. I was in the fourth division, but life turned out differently. At the moment I'm enjoying the amateur games on the pitch, and of course I'm a fan!
What does your standard working day look like?
I work mostly from six in the morning. My job is to deliver all parcels to customers and, at the end of the day, collect parcels from the companies we work with. At the end of the day I go 'down to base', settle accounts and close the day. The time I finish work depends on what kind of day we have and how many parcels there are to deliver.
What would you wish for the next few years of cooperation?
Above all, keep up the good work! 😊
What would you advise people who are starting out as a courier?
It is certainly not a job for everyone - you have to like it! You should be distinguished by qualities such as commitment, resistance to stress and high personal culture. We all work for the image of the company, so the principle "As they see you, so they write you" applies perfectly here.
Thanks for the interview!
We wish Simon that the team he supports always wins and that the garage holds all the treasures! 😊
