A courier's job is not enough: 6 questions for Matthew, the car enthusiast
5 December 2019
There is no doubt that without couriers, a logistics company could not function. At InPost, we are aware of the extremely important role they play, which is why we particularly value their work and respect their interests. One thing is certain. InPost connects people who like a fast pace! Meet Matthew, who knows a lot about speed! After work, he changes from his company bus to a motorbike and goes to a special track for extreme driving. Mateusz is passionate about driving fast - both on a motorbike and in an off-road vehicle - but that's not all! He has been involved with motoring for 10 years and in his spare time he goes to his "kingdom" - the workshop - where he balances his adrenaline levels by tinkering with vehicle after vehicle.

Matthew, you've been working as an InPost courier since December 2016 - in a few weeks' time you'll have "marked" your round 3 years! How do you recall your beginnings?
The beginning was heavily involved and challenging! I threw myself in at the deep end, starting work at the very top of the pack! I supported a colleague during this hectic period, working for him as an extra courier . It was December, the middle of winter - I remember driving for a long time, and there were lots of parcels! Despite appearances, I didn't get discouraged - I like it when there's a lot going on and the work is dynamic. It gives me an extra boost!
What do you like best about your job as a courier?
Above all, it is the variety and the fact that no day is the same as the previous one. There's a lot going on and that's a big plus! I'm constantly on the move and meeting new people. Contacts with the public often provide positive energy, so even if there are more difficult moments, it is still nice to return to these situations at the end of the day, which generate a smile on my face.
When you are not working, you ... ?
I indulge in my passion, which is motoring. For me, relaxation is being able to tinker with more vehicles - it calms me down, calms me down and allows me to recharge my batteries. When I need an adrenaline rush, I go to the track and get on a motorbike or an all-terrain vehicle - driving fast gives me an energy kick. It's a passion I've been faithful to for 10 years now and I don't think anything will change in the near future.
What does your standard working day look like?
I start the day with a 5am wake-up call. Then breakfast, the obligatory coffee and I check in at the branch at six o'clock. I'm a courier-carrier, so my work can vary from day to day - either I drive myself to deliver parcels or I coordinate the work of the people I employ.
What would you wish for the next few years of cooperation?
I would certainly like to further develop my business at InPost, so I appreciate any support from the company - I hope we will also be treated in this way in the future.
Super if we could switch to new cars - I'm looking forward to expanding the electric vehicle fleet!
What would you advise people who are starting out as a courier?
First and foremost, so that they don't give up after the first few days (even if they just hit the packet peak 😊), because every day after that will be easier! Once someone has passed the first Tuesday, you will go easier with each subsequent Tuesday. If you are not coping with something, seek help and ask! There is a relaxed atmosphere in the teams, so there are no forbidden questions!
Thanks for the interview!
We wish Matthew satisfaction and further development - both in the professional field and in his hobby! 😊
