It has not been known for a long time that trade Foreign trade involves the exchange of goods or services in return for payment between entrepreneurs with their companies in different countries. Sometimes there is a shortage of specific products in a particular country for various reasons, which creates excellent business opportunities if we can offer such goods. What are the main benefits of foreign trade? We will find out in a moment!

Foreign trade - operations in trade in goods

When addressing the topic of international transactions, it is worth first recalling some important concepts such as import, export, re-export, transit and processing trade. The first concept mentioned refers to purchasing goods abroad and bringing them into the country - the subsequent sale takes place on the home market. The second concept involves selling one's products in other countries, i.e. exporting them from one's own country and reaching out to completely new customers. We divide re-exporting into direct and indirect. Direct is related to buying goods abroad and selling them directly to a partner from another country - bypassing one's home country. Indirect is buying products abroad, bringing them back to your home country and further exporting them internationally. Transit refers to transporting purchased goods from one country to another via a third country. What is refining trade? In short, it involves the processing of raw materials or semi-finished goods supplied from another country on behalf of a specific foreign company. As you can see, foreign trade refers to many activities, although we often only see it with sales on foreign markets or imports. It is worth considering which commodity trading operation would be best for the development of our company if we want to expand our business and conquer the world.

Benefits of foreign trade

Why do countries trade with each other at all? If it were not for a number of important the benefits of foreign trade This mechanism would certainly not have grown as large as it has today. Each country would be concerned with producing products and selling them exclusively in its own territory, which is very difficult to imagine today. Through international trade, each party involved in the transaction can acquire certain goods and factors of production that it does not have and often cannot have itself - thus the development of a given economy would be limited. By importing various products, we have easy access to them - we do not have to travel to buy, for example, coffee, which is not grown in Poland. A particular country can also produce certain goods at a lower cost, which pays off for the buyer. What are the other benefits of international trade? Below are some of the most important ones:

  • foreign exchange enables better, more rational use of resources and factors of production available to the country concerned;
  • international cooperation provides access to a wide and much more varied range of goods - Sometimes it is difficult to imagine functioning without some commodity, the purchase of which was not possible without foreign trade, and there are indeed many such items;
  • international trade contributes to saving resources ;
  • thanks to foreign exchange we have more competition This forces traders to improve their products and offerings, as well as to introduce more attractive prices - the consumer gains more choice between similar items;
  • foreign trade enables the exchange of cultural patterns ;
  • prices of many products sold may be lower because it is more profitable to produce them somewhere else;
  • trade cooperation between countries contributes to increased prosperity - Revenue to the state budget becomes higher and new jobs are created;
  • many companies and institutions get the chance to develop dynamically ;
  • foreign trade somehow binds the economies of individual countries into one coherent whole ;
  • international exchanges enable countries to possess far more goods than would otherwise be the case ,
  • foreign trade stimulates the development of a technological base .

Effective cooperation between countries in the sale of goods and services is the best driver of the economy. Thanks to increasing globalisation, the importance of foreign trade is growing year on year. Nowadays, almost every company has at least indirect contacts of a commercial nature with other countries - a very important aspect that allows companies to achieve many different benefits, not only financial. The first forms of exchange between countries appeared as early as in ancient times, but foreign trade continues to develop dynamically and undergoes various transformations. It is also worth noting that it significantly influences the size of GDP and its structure.
