These days, selling online is easier than ever. All you need to do is set up the right platform and have an idea for quality products that consumers will love. Of course, you should use sites such as Allegro to reach a wider audience. We also have another suggestion for you: launching a shop on... Facebook! Today we will take a slightly closer look at this!

How does the Facebook shop work?

Social media have gained enormous popularity. It is worth knowing that they can be successfully used not only for private purposes, but also for business. If you are running a webshop and you want to reach a wider audience, a social media presence is a must! It's not just about a profile for your brand's fans. A well-organised sklep na Facebooku will allow you to stand out from the competition.

Once it is up and running and equipped with products, items can be tagged directly below posts. This means that you can link goods even if the post itself does not have the link in question. It is worth remembering that providing a hyperlink in the description does not click as well as we would like it to. Using the Facebook shop also makes both the links and the items themselves more visible.

How do I set up a Facebook shop within a company page?

It might seem that setting up a bookmark for sales requires specialist knowledge and will take time - nothing could be further from the truth! Setting up shop on Facebook is not a complicated task. Just follow a few easy steps:

Step 1: Add a "Shop" section to your site

First of all, log in to the company fanpage as administrator. Open the "Settings" menu and then click: "Edit page". You will then find all the available tabs. If, among the options listed, there is no shop, press "Add tab". By doing so, you will open a window with additional fields, from which you can easily select the category you are looking for and add a tab.

Step 2: Accept the terms and conditions

When you return to the home page, check that the tab has definitely been added to the bookmarks panel. In case everything went according to plan, you need to click: "Shop" and accept the terms and conditions of the commercial terms and conditions - without this you cannot go any further. These relate to, for example: deliveries, returns, dealing with user data or displaying a list of products for sale.

Step 3: Choose a convenient payment method

How should customers buy goods? Note: this is a very important step as it concerns the choice of model shop on Facebook . It is worth thinking twice, as the decision will not be able to be taken back. The popular social network offers several types of sales platform - their availability depends on geographical location. In Poland, there are only two models: a shop referring customers to the main website to finalise the transaction and the possibility to send a message (using Messenger) to buy an item. In the United States, entrepreneurs can already sell their goods directly from Facebook, and payment is then made via PayPal or Stripe.

Step 4: Set the appropriate currency

At the end of the configuration, you still need to ensure that you have set up the currency you are using for your online shop. Admittedly, payments do not take place through the portal, but the prices will be displayed next to the products presented on the fanpage. Once you have gone through all four steps correctly, you now have direct access to the 'Shop' section!

Adding products and descriptions to the Facebook shop

Of course, just having a bookmark will not create interest among Internet users. As you know, the most important thing in any shop is the product, so it is imperative that you make sure it is properly displayed - including on Facebook. How do you do this? Adding items involves each time you fill in an uncomplicated form, which will be visible after clicking on the button: "Add product". You have 8 fields to fill in:

  • photos/films - every article must have them. It is worth remembering that you must insert an actual photograph of the item in question and not, for example, a visualisation. The photo may not contain any additional descriptions, logos or advertising slogans. It must be square and have a resolution of at least 1024 X 1024 pixels;
  • name - each item has a unique name;
  • dinner - in the currency determined at configuration;
  • this product is sold out - you can tick this option if you are organising a sale and want to encourage users to buy;
  • description - try to make it concise, short, specific and interesting - after all, it has to encourage people to buy. Don't copy descriptions from your online shop! It is better to write them differently, which has a big impact on SEO;
  • the URL address of the checkout page - This is where you paste the links to the product that you find on the sales platform;
  • share this article on your website - selecting this option will result in the item being shared as a post on the fanpage;
  • visibility - This parameter allows you to decide whether the product should be visible or not.
