First electric cars and preparation for Christmas summit
22 November 2018
"For years, InPost's parcel machine deliveries have reduced pollution in major cities. The supplier of the electric cars currently in use is Nissan, but we will not be limited to just one manufacturer. This is another environmentally friendly solution from InPost - to Parcel Machines® InPost one courier and one vehicle delivers up to 100 parcels and for traditional couriers it would be 100 car journeys around the city." - Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost, said.
Investment in a fleet of electric cars is not the only solution to prepare the company well for the Christmas parcel rush. "Black Friday, the traditional start of the Christmas parcel rush, is ahead of us, although at InPost we have been recording record volumes since the beginning of the week. Over the festive period, we expect up to more than 50% growth in volumes handled compared to the previous year" - he added Brzoska.
InPost has been preparing for the current peak all year. Investing intensively, above all in the development of the Paczkomat network, of which there are now 4,300 throughout Poland - 1,500 more than a year earlier. " Although we are still recruiting intensively, we feel well prepared for the parcel peak. We have employed an additional 1,000 couriers with courier vehicles and 100 additional TIRs, which will haul the parcels so that they all arrive before Christmas". - underlines InPost CEO.
Under cooperation agreements, we have begun installing Parcel Machines at shops Lidl in Dino throughout Poland. By the end of the year, we plan to increase the infrastructure to 4,500 Parcel Machines.
Between January and October 2018, InPost delivered more than 61 million parcels, an increase of 53% year-on-year - of which Parcel Machines® recorded an increase of 54% and InPost courier 50%.
