  • Parcel machines present in 58% of the e-shops surveyed. This is the highest share of a single brand in terms of delivery options. The authors of the Idealo.pl study did not include the issue of free delivery and returns. And Polish and international studies show that this is a key issue from the point of view of customer acquisition and building conversions:

  • According to the UPS Pulse of Online Shopper survey (2014), the courier company UPS found that for 63% of customers, free delivery is a key factor in e-commerce satisfaction.
  • A study by Forrester Research (2013) reveals that, for 53% of shoppers, the high cost of delivery was the reason for changing their shopping destination.
  • According to the Gemius E-commerce in Poland study (2014), 69% of e-consumers say they would buy online more often if delivery costs were lower.
  • Analysis by US marketing firm Retention Science shows that promotional emails communicating free delivery have a 2x higher conversion rate than emails based on product price discounts.
  • Paczkomat InPost's own research shows that around 64% of e-shops in Poland offer free delivery. Most often in the "books and multimedia" (91.6%) and "fashion" (77.7%) sectors. However, the most frequent values of baskets entitling to free delivery oscillate between PLN 200 and 300.

The second major issue is free returns. Here, too, we are seeing a great deal of scope for e-commerce. The results of a study published on www.practicalecommerce.com show that in 2013, 60% of Americans returned goods purchased online. However, as many as 95% of those who had a positive experience with the return service returned to the e-store for another purchase.

Paczkomat's own analyses show that less than 8% of Polish e-shops offer free returns.
