More than just a job: 6 questions for skiing enthusiast Arthur
17 November 2019
Every day, from the very morning onwards, they are whisked away at an express pace to ensure that shipments arrive on time.
They know the importance of good organisation and speed. They travel dozens of kilometres every day, delivering eagerly awaited gifts and coveted purchases. They like to have a lot going on. As a rule, their activities do not stop when they leave work.
At InPost, we appreciate that our employees have their passions and we give them the space to develop them. Meet Artur, who has been faithful to skiing for 15 years. He conquers new slopes every winter, and during the year he takes care of his figure through regular visits to the gym. And that's not all! What other hobbies does Artur have and what does he think of his job?
Read our short interview in which she talks about her daily duties and passions!
Artur, you have been with us for a year now. Although on the surface it may not seem like a very long period, you have probably already had a lot of interesting experiences due to the high dynamics of this work. And how do you recall your beginnings?
Right from the outset, I could choose whether I would operate routes to Parcel Machines or take care of delivering parcels to individual recipients. I chose the former option and I definitely don't regret it. 😊 I knew what to expect, so I wasn't surprised - working on the move is my element! Another plus is that these parcels are not too heavy (they go into Parcel Post boxes, so they are limited in size and weight).
I am aware that I work in a service industry that is growing very rapidly. This gives me a number of opportunities. From the very beginning, I have been able to benefit from all sorts of technical innovations, systems or, most recently, a car powered solely by an electric motor!
What do you like best about your job as a courier?
What I appreciate most about my job is a certain kind of independence and the opportunity to work in a group. I also really like the fact that there is always something going on and you can never complain about being bored.
When you are not working, you ... ?
For balance, I am actively involved in sport. I love winter - I've been skiing for 15 years. Initially, I started with the Polish slopes, but for the last few years I have been going to the Alps, which are definitely more demanding. In addition, I work out in the gym all year round to keep fit.
When I want to change the 'atmosphere', I pick up my tools and tinker with wood. I've been doing this since I was a kid. I recently built a tool house in the garden and a set of furniture for the gazebo.
In addition, I am studying internal security in absentia.
What does your standard working day look like?
I wake up early in the morning and then head to the warehouse where I sort, scan and arrange the parcels in the car. When I'm done, I can drive out to the region, where I place the parcels in the Parcel Post. I then go to the customers, from whom I collect so-called 'pick-ups'. With the parcels in the car, I drive down to the base. After unpacking the parcels, I repeat the same steps as in the morning and set off on the second course.
What would you wish for the next few years of cooperation?
In the next years of cooperation I would mainly like to see bigger Parcel Machines, but I would also be happy with a raise :)
What would you advise people who are starting out as a courier?
A person who wants to start working as a courier should consider whether he has qualities such as patience and organisation. If so, he or she will definitely manage and does not need any additional advice. 😊
Thanks for the interview!
We wish Artur many exciting ski escapades - especially on the snowy Italian slopes! And lots of positive energy every day! 😊
