PGP introduces EPO in Wroclaw, Poznan and Lodz
12 March 2015
"We are consistently working on the implementation of the Electronic Confirmation of Receipt service in more institutions. It is worth emphasising that our competitors, including the postal monopolist Poczta Polska, do not have such an advanced system allowing us to serve offices throughout the country. Thanks to the introduction of the EPO software, the circulation of court correspondence is shorter by up to a dozen or so days. We have already implemented the system in all courts of two appeals: Białystok and Kraków. Nearly 1,000 deliverers equipped with electronic terminals work for 65 courts of both appellations, and the advised correspondence can be collected in as many as 500 advising points". - said Witold Szczurek, Chairman of the Management Board of Polska Grupa Pocztowa S.A.
The EPO system is currently used by more than 105 courts across Poland. According to the contract for postal services for courts and prosecutors' offices, the system will be implemented by PGP nationwide by the end of June.
The Electronic Receipt of Delivery is a significant convenience for senders of correspondence. Thanks to the EPO, courts can save millions of man-hours per year and engage the thus relieved employees in other tasks. The EPO is a solution that meets the needs not only of courts, but also of other institutions interested in efficient and fast delivery of correspondence requiring acknowledgement of receipt. At the beginning of the year, PLAY, one of the leaders of the Polish mobile telephony market, joined the EPO users. This will speed up the handling of correspondence requiring a return receipt, automate and simplify the entire process and significantly reduce its costs. At the beginning of the year, PGP won a tender announced by the provincial police headquarters in Lublin and will deliver letters from 52 police stations in the Lublin voivodeship.
The Polish Postal Group is one of the technological leaders of the Polish postal market, providing delivery services in Poland and all countries belonging to the World Postal Union. In its delivery process, PGP uses the most modern sorting lines. The whole process is supported by an IT system that records the daily movement of parcels. This makes it possible to track them at each stage of distribution and allows for ongoing accounting of individual operations.
In December 2014, InPost - the largest private postal operator in Poland - finalised the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Polska Grupa Pocztowa SA (PGP). The companies integrated their operational structures and the formal acquisition of the shares was the final stage in the PGP acquisition process. This will increase InPost's potential for mail handling, including public contracts. However, PGP will remain a separate company and a brand dedicated to the business customer requiring advanced postal services. Recently, InPost has won tenders to handle the correspondence of the government's Shared Services Centre, worth PLN 33 million, and KRUS - valued at almost PLN 23 million. In addition, InPost, together with PGP, has been handling the correspondence of common courts and prosecutors' offices for a year - the two-year contract is worth almost PLN 500 million and covers 100 million items.
InPost offers attractive prices for postal services and the highest delivery effectiveness in the market - as much as 75% of registered mail is delivered directly to the addressee (without an advice note). InPost also records a higher punctuality of registered mail delivery than the designated operator - 92% for D+3 letters and 97.5% for D+5 letters - and introduces modern technological solutions, such as Electronic Proof of Receipt (EPO), which was, among others, the subject of a tender for P4.
