The Witcher in Parcel Machines
1 June 2015
No one needs to be told that all three parts of the game were produced by the Polish studio CD Projekt RED, nor that the premiere took place on 19 May this year. The most faithful and impatient fans of The Witcher - and there were as many as 7,000 of them - collected their copies from Paczkomaty, on 18 May, just after 11 p.m.
The Witcher from Parcel Post
Delivering all parcels at exactly the same hour to Parcel Machines located all over the country was quite a logistical challenge, for which we had been preparing for several weeks. As Konrad Osiadacz said in an interview with cdp.pl, the hardest part was:
"Keeping the whole operation strictly confidential and 'sealing' any possible routes by which information could prematurely reach the recipient. Parcel machines are generally a very open, transparent service that meets customer expectations. In the case of the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Gon, we had to use non-standard solutions in some issues, such as no email about the placement of the parcel, extra precautions in our internal systems, coordinating the distribution in a short period of time to 1024 Parcel Machines, while guaranteeing a consistent level of service for our other customers."
Players collected their precious parcels from 1,024 Parcel Machines. The first game was picked up just one minute after 23:00 in Elbląg. As the statistics showed, 50% of all game parcels were collected in just 6 cities: Gdańsk, Kraków, Łódź, Opole, Poznań, Szczecin and Warsaw. The largest number of games, 54, were collected from Paczkomaty WAW11A (Warsaw, ul. Górczewska).
In Gdańsk, in front of Parcel Machine GDA913 on Grunwaldzka Street, fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Game were presented with packages of Witcher gadgets by two beautiful cosplayers dressed as Yennefer and Ciri, and a lucky few even managed to steal a kiss from them. Before the parcels were collected, the tension and anticipation was visible among those gathered at the Parcel Post, and later only the joy immortalised in joint photographs.
On 18 May, as early as 11:35 p.m., he appeared on our fanpagu the first post with photos of the lucky winners receiving the game. Despite the late hour, there were many comments and almost 200 likes. So it was also a busy time for the social media handlers.
InPost competition
Everyone who picked up their game in a Paczkomat could take part in the #WitcherWPaczkomat competition organised in cooperation with cdp.pl and LG. Entries could be sent in from 12 to 26 May. The jury had a difficult choice, but in the end the most creative and original works sent by Remigiusz, chinaa92 and a video prepared by Łukasz were appreciated. You can see the selected photographs on the fanpage of cdp.pl. Congratulations to the winners!
