Christmas shopping peak - we can do it!
30 November 2015
At InPost, we started work on getting the peacock right back in... March. We can now state with a clear conscience that we are prepared to receive and properly serve a record number of consignments. How do we know that it will be record-breaking? When we undertook a summary of the previous peak period in January this year, we wrote about the double-digit growth rate of the e-commerce industry in Poland.
The trend remains unchanged. As we read on Interia: The dynamics with which the e-commerce market in Poland has grown is interesting. The e-commerce market grew fastest at 16.2 per cent in 2011, the next two years saw a slowdown to 15.7 per cent in 2012 and a sharp deceleration to 13.4 per cent in 2013. The following years saw a rebound and stabilisation at 15.3 per cent in 2014 and 15.4 per cent this year.
These views are also confirmed by other industry experts:
The study confirms that we are more and more willing to shop on the Internet and spend increasing amounts of money on it, which currently amounts to PLN 80 per month on average. As confirmed by the results - as much as 54% of Polish Internet users buy products or services on Polish websites: this is 9 percentage points more than last year," writes Patrycja Staniszewska, Member of the Management Board of the Chamber of Electronic Economy.
What steps have we taken to ensure that the pre-Christmas escalation goes smoothly?
- We have more Parcel Machines than before . More than 1,300 machines are already stationed throughout Poland. All in top working order
- We are preparing a whole army Mobile parcel machines to support our machines. In the event that any of the Parcel Machines become even more popular and the situation threatens to become overcrowded, we have prepared a huge number of couriers who will issue parcels from vans. Specially marked InPost employees will be on standby in the nearest vicinity of stationary Paczkomaty, and parcel collection will look similar to "normal" collection (the only difference will be that you will need a telephone number and the last three digits of the parcel number to collect your parcel). Everything will be done in compliance with accepted parcel security procedures.
- We are prepared for unforeseen situations. In exceptional circumstances, we will contact consignees to arrange alternative delivery. - so that no customer has to wait for their desired delivery.
- Motivate recipients to receive shipments faster
In summary - by operating this year's peacock, we will certainly prove that, on the logistics market, InPost is the best and most effective partner for the e-commerce industry.
