Clothing and footwear

It is one of the leading industries e-commerce in Poland which is continually experiencing growth. The largest shops are visited by millions of unique users every month. The number of page views per month reaches up to 100 million for a single shop. Satisfactory turnover is achieved by both online-only and stationary retailers, who treat the online presence as an add-on. Concerns about buying clothes on the Internet, which consumers expressed a few years ago, now seem abstract. Nowadays, it is possible to find very accurate product descriptions, clear pictures and clear size charts. This reduces the risk of a wrong purchase to a minimum. What is more, the pro-customer attitude of the shops encourages to order clothes on the Internet. quick turnaround unwanted goods via Parcel Post. If for some reason the buyer wants to return a dress or blouse, it only takes a few moments and it is ready to be posted. Now, all you have to do is "hook up" with a nearby Parcel Machine, which remains open 24 hours a day. Returning goods therefore becomes easier in an online shop than in a stationary shop. In the past, the fear of returning items bought online and the procedures involved effectively discouraged many potential buyers from placing an order.

Household appliances, electronics, computers

Products in this category are another very important item for the development of domestic e-commerce. Polska is a country where more and more people are making thoughtful purchases - before placing an order, consumers browse reviews and opinions online and compare prices. This last point in particular favours the use of online shops. According to a 2018 study, more than half of people buying home appliances online choose to do so because of the price, which very often turns out to be lower than in stationary outlets.

Books, films, music

Culture in its broadest sense is another sphere in which the domestic e-commerce market is developing intensively. Online shops are experiencing a real boom, especially at 'hot' times, such as the period immediately preceding Christmas. Consumer trends are determined, among other things, by the objective advantage of such shops over classic bookshops. An interesting title can be found quickly, its availability can be checked, it can be pre-ordered and news can be found in the newsletter. Recent years have also seen an incredible growth in the turnover of streaming platforms offering films and series. Convenience of use, huge choice, no adverts and the ability to stop playback at any time are driving more and more people to subscribe to such services.

Perfumes and cosmetics

It is also one of the ever-growing branches of e-commerce in Poland . Online shops selling perfume compete in terms of assortment, prices and delivery methods. Packages of flacons easily fit into Parcel Post, which further encourages shopping. In addition, consumers like to search online for various information about cosmetics, and knowledge is provided by video blogs, run by cosmetology specialists. These materials are characterised by a high level of expertise and the influencers review the available products, paying attention to even the smallest details.

E-commerce in Poland - in which other sectors is it growing?

In addition to the above-mentioned product groups, Poles like to browse the web for many other things. Among these are hobby-related items such as sports equipment. Specialist online shops offer a very wide range of products. In addition, full integration of the shop's platform with the warehouse system is now standard. This means that a potential buyer can find out with just a few clicks whether a particular item remains currently available. Products classically associated with stationary outlets, such as bathroom fittings, are also becoming increasingly popular in online shops. The growing level of confidence in online shopping also means that many people order jewellery or medicines in this way. Year on year, the percentage of respondents who consider online shopping to be dangerous is dropping by several percentage points. This suggests that the market for e-commerce in Poland will grow in the coming years, as will its global value. It has recently exceeded PLN 50 billion (2018). So there is a real chance that it will reach PLN 100 billion in the next decade, in which case it would equal the value of national health expenditure....
