Anyone who sells on auction sites and manages several dispatch accounts under different contracts is familiar with this daily hassle: every order has to be labelled and dispatched separately. The integration of InPost with Sello streamlines this process within a single sales management tool and converts order data into ready-to-use consignment notes. Sello is currently available in two versions – the classic version and the newer Sello NX – and the nature of the integration depends on which version you’re using. Find out how to set this up separately for classic Sello and for Sello NX!

Sello and InPost – key facts:

  • Two versions of Sello - The newer Sello NX has built-in courier modules, whilst the older version requires a separate intermediary solution.

  • Integration via the ShipX API - To get started, you’ll need an access token and an organisation ID from the Package Manager.

  • Multiple sender accounts - separate integration accounts for different contracts with the operator, all within a single dashboard.

  • Documents relating to specific orders - Waybills and labels are generated automatically, without the need to retype addresses.

  • Tracking and notifications - Logistics statuses are sent back to Sello, and the customer is notified by email or text message.

What features does the InPost integration with Sello offer?

Integration of InPost with Sello automates the handling of shipments directly within the tool you use to manage shipments and orders from auction sites. Instead of logging in separately to the courier’s portal, you generate shipping documents based on the order details. The entire dispatch process is then reduced to just a few steps, and the risk of errors in the address details is significantly reduced.

At the heart of this integration is the automation of the dispatch process. Waybills and labels are generated from order data, parcel numbers are updated automatically, and you can track parcel statuses via the admin panel. The fewer manual steps there are between an order and a ready-to-print label, the Order processing runs more smoothly as sales increase. On top of that, there are automatic email and text message notifications for the buyer.

What the integration handles in day-to-day dispatch:

  • Transport documents - Letters and labels are generated automatically from the order details.

  • Status tracking - the current location of the consignment is visible directly in the sales dashboard.

  • Customer notifications - automatic emails or text messages regarding the delivery status.

  • Checking for completeness - checking the contents of the order at the packing station by scanning barcodes.

What is required to integrate Sello with InPost?

To set this up, you’ll need two things: access to order data on the Sello side and authorisation details for Courier API. The connection itself is based on WebAPI technology – that is, ShipX’s modern interface – through which Sello exchanges parcel information with the carrier. Without proper authorisation, the integration cannot transmit parcel data.

Where can I get my login details?

To authorise the connection, you will need an access token, an organisation ID and database parameters. The token and organisation ID you generate in the Parcel Manager panel InPost, i.e. via the operator’s online shipping service. The API key is separate for the test and production environments. Remember to store this data securely, as it is used to authorise shipments on behalf of your company.

How do I set up the InPost integration in Sello NX?

Sello NX ma built-in courier integration modules, so you don’t need any external tools to connect to InPost. You can add the configuration directly in the dashboard by entering the token and organisation ID you obtained earlier. Thanks to the tight integration of the newer version, the dispatch settings are managed in the same place where you handle your sales.

A practical advantage here is the support for multiple dispatch accounts. If you have different contracts with the operator, you can add separate InPost integration accounts and assign dispatches to the correct terms and conditions. When setting this up, check that each account has the correct synchronisation settings.

How do I add several sender accounts?

You configure each contract with an operator as a separate integration account in the Sello NX dashboard.

What do you set when configuring the integration in Sello NX:

  • Adding an account - a separate integration configuration for each broadcasting agreement.

  • Synchronisation parameters - the rules governing data exchange between Sello NX and the operator’s services.

  • Packaging module - a dedicated workstation where you check and prepare parcels.

More advanced users opt for the Sfera interface for Sello NX, which allows them to create your own extensions on top of the standard modules. For most shops, however, the built-in features are sufficient, without the need to add anything of their own.

How do I map delivery methods and parcel locker dimensions?

Mapping delivery methods is linking delivery options from auction sites to specific InPost courier services in the Sello settings. This allows the buyer to choose, for example, the Allegro InPost Parcel Locker, switches to the correct dispatch method without manual intervention. It is this that determines whether an order for collection from a parcel locker is sent to the locker for dispatch rather than to a courier.

In the settings, you can also define the default parcel sizes and the dimensions of courier consignments. For InPost Paczkomat 24/7 machines, you can select size A, B or C – the different locker sizes for typical orders. The pre-set default weight and dimensions of parcels mean you don’t have to enter them separately for each dispatch.

What do you set when mapping deliveries:

  • Mapping delivery methods - delivery options from auctions linked to InPost services.

  • Dimensions of the lockers - default size A, B or C for InPost Paczkomat 24/7 machines.

  • Dimensions and weight of the parcel - courier settings configured in advance for recurring orders.

  • Parcel insurance - the sum insured allocated to the consignment as part of the service.

  • Weekend Parcel - an additional service offering Saturday delivery for orders placed at the end of the week.

  • Collection order - arranging for a courier to collect parcels and generating a consolidated list of parcels to be dispatched for the entire batch.

Every parcel sent via our network is covered by additional protection. When mapping, you can also assign additional services, such as Weekend Parcel, to selected delivery methods. After configuration, check that each method across your channels has the correct dispatch service assigned to it.

How do I integrate an older version of Sello with InPost?

The older version of Sello does not have built-in courier modules, so connecting it to InPost usually requires additional external applicationsj. This application retrieves order data stored on the Sello side and uses it to prepare parcels for dispatch. This differs from Sello NX, where the integration works directly from within the dashboard.

As part of this arrangement, Sello also works with sales and warehouse systems for retrieving data on goods and orders. Information about the product sold is therefore passed on to the dispatch team without the need for manual transfer between tools. If you are using an older version, please check the exact scope of the required intermediary solution in the documentation, as the details may vary.

How do I generate labels and track the status of my parcels?

Label generation is based on synchronised orders: you select the parcels ready for dispatch, and the system creates waybills for them in a single step. When dealing with a larger number of consignments, it is crucial to bulk label creation, which prepares documents for the entire batch at once, rather than processing each parcel individually. The details for the label are taken directly from the order, so you don’t have to retype the recipient’s address.

Once you have prepared the consignments, you request collection and a consolidated dispatch report. You will generate a courier manifest in the app, i.e. a summary of all parcels, and you can arrange a courier collection directly via the dashboard. This is a bulk transmission and a single protocol for the entire batch effectively reduce the time spent on day-to-day logistics operations. You can choose the label print format to suit your equipment, from a standard printer to a thermal printer for high-volume printing.

Where do the shipment statuses in Sello come from?

Logistics statuses are retrieved from the InPost Parcel Manager and displayed directly in Sello, so you can track deliveries in one place. The waybill number is passed on to the sales platforms, so that the buyer can see the parcel linked to their order. Parcel tracking is updated in real time, and notifications about each stage of the journey are sent to the customer automatically.

In auction sales, a single account often involves several dispatch orders, and every order has to be printed on a label anyway – and this is precisely where Sello’s integration with InPost makes the biggest difference. Tracking numbers, statuses and notifications are handled automatically, whilst you oversee the whole process from a single dashboard. The more auctions you manage, the more you’ll benefit from the fact that dispatch and delivery tracking happen in the background. Set up the connection and see just how much time you’ll save!
