Buyers are more likely to complete their order when they can select a collection point that suits them directly from their basket. On the seller’s side, however, this same selection must be transferred to the label without having to be rewritten manually; otherwise, every parcel takes time away from developing the shop. The InPost integration with SoteShop bridges this gap: it turns the customer’s choice into a ready-to-dispatch shipment handled directly from the shop’s dashboard. Find out how to turn the customer’s choice from the basket into a ready-to-dispatch shipment – without a single manually entered address!
What you need to know before implementation:
-
Integration via the ShipX API - All data exchange with InPost takes place via a single, shared channel.
-
Data from the Parcel Manager - To get started, you’ll need an Access Token and an Organisation ID from the InPost dashboard.
-
Geowidget in the basket - The customer selects a Parcel Locker on the map, and the selection is then applied to the order.
-
Automatic labels - The order details are converted into a consignment note without the need for re-entry.
-
Pre-production test mode - you can test the integration at no cost before sales begin.
-
Tracking parcels in the dashboard - The delivery status is updated in real time, without having to leave the shop.
What is the InPost integration with SoteShop, and how does it work?
The integration of InPost with SoteShop is a direct connection between the shop platform and the operator’s systems, which automates dispatch and the management of Paczkomat parcel lockers directly from the shop’s control panel. Instead of logging in separately to the courier’s website, you can create shipments directly from where you manage your sales. The integration is based on data exchange via an API and operates under the platform’s standard licence.
The process begins right there in the shopping basket: the buyer They intuitively select a collection point, and this simple gesture leads to greater trust and a higher number of completed orders. The fewer steps a customer has to take to choose a delivery option, the less likely they are to abandon their basket. Online sales thus benefit from a seamless workflow, in which the shop’s software and the courier system exchange data without the need for manual adjustments.

What logistics features does the SoteShop–InPost integration offer?
The integration provides the following in the shop dashboard a full range of InPost delivery options needed for day-to-day parcels, from postbox collection to door-to-door delivery. The seller decides which services to display in the basket, and the buyer chooses the one that suits them.
Available delivery services
Services and features available in the integration:
| Function | What does this offer the shop? |
| InPost Parcel Locker | Collection from 24-hour collection points, in sizes A, B and C. |
| InPost courier | Delivery to your address, including for heavier and larger parcels. |
| Geowidget | An interactive map of collection points embedded directly in the shopping basket. |
| Cash on delivery | Cash on delivery, with the amount specified for the order. |
| InPost International | International parcel delivery to selected countries. |
As well as choosing a service, the integration allows you to define the parcel’s dimensions and weight, so that the correct locker size is selected before dispatch. You can also handle multi-parcel orders, where a single order is dispatched in several parcels. Please note that this Geowidget focuses most heavily on conversion, because it turns an abstract address into a specific location on the map that the customer is familiar with from the local area.
How do I obtain a ShipX API key and access token?
You can obtain the Access Token and Organisation ID from the Parcel Manager service – this is InPost’s dispatch dashboard, where you generate the data required to authorise the connection. The ShipX API is InPost’s application programming interface, built using the REST standard, through which the online shop exchanges parcel data with the operator. Without the correct key, the integration cannot transmit the parcel data.
The handy thing is that the API key is the same for the various delivery methods offered by this operator, so You can manage both the Parcel Locker and the InPost courier service using a single set of data. However, please remember to keep the two environments separate – the access token works separately for test mode and separately for production mode.
Where can I get my login details?
Information required to connect to the API:
-
Access Token - an API key that authorises every data exchange with InPost.
-
Organization ID - the organisation ID, which assigns shipments to the correct account.
-
Test mode - a separate token for testing the integration without actual transmissions.
You can retrieve the Access Token and Organisation ID from the Parcel Manager service, i.e. the InPost dispatch panel. Before implementation, check that you are using the correct pair of tokens for the relevant environment, as this is a common source of errors at the start. You can find details regarding the technical documentation itself on the operator’s website.
How do I set up InPost services in the SoteShop admin panel?
You start the configuration by entering API key in the shop’s admin panel, in the section covering delivery methods. This is the first step; without it, the other settings cannot connect to the carrier. Take your time with this, as the rest of the implementation depends on it.
Before you activate the integration, please complete your company details, namely the dispatch address and the shop’s billing information. Without all of this information, the system will not generate a valid consignment note. The delivery management module is often provided as an add-on installed in the shop, available within the platform, so once it is enabled, you can then configure specific delivery methods.
Order of settings in the panel
Configuration steps in the admin panel:
-
Enter your API key - Paste the Access Token and Organisation ID into the delivery settings.
-
Please complete your company details - the shop’s return address and billing details.
-
Enable the deliveries module - Activate the add-on that supports InPost services.
-
Set up the delivery price list - Set the amounts displayed to the buyer in the shopping basket.
-
Link payment methods - Choose the payment methods that suit the services you’ve selected, including cash on delivery.
Finally, check that the delivery price list shows the correct amounts to the buyer and that the payment methods match the available services. Also make sure that the latest updates for the module are installed, as these ensure compatibility with the operator’s services.
How can you automate the generation of labels and the posting of parcels?
Automation involves the following: order details are transferred directly to the label, and the consignment note is generated in a single step via the shop’s dashboard. You don’t have to retype the recipient’s address or the sender’s details, as these are automatically pulled from the order itself onto the label. You can prepare labels individually for urgent parcels or in bulk for the entire batch from a given day. With higher sales volumes, it is precisely this automation that saves the seller the most time and money.
What tasks does automation handle during dispatch:
-
Label generation - The consignment note is generated from the order details in a single step.
-
List of parcels - You can filter your posts by status or date and won’t miss a thing.
-
Tracking of consignments - all consignments in a single, organised view.
-
Data returned to the order - The parcel number is returned to the shop, so the cycle closes automatically.
Repetitive tasks are also increasingly being supported by automation based on machine learning, which suggests settings and speeds up the preparation of subsequent broadcasts. In our system, the parcel details are automatically linked to the order as soon as it is created, so staff do not have to copy and paste anything manually.
How does delivery status tracking work in the SoteShop system?
Once a consignment has been created, its A tracking number is automatically assigned to an order, so the staff know straight away which parcel belongs to which customer. Linking order statuses to delivery statuses is precisely the factor that does the most to build buyers’ trust. Customers receive notifications about their parcel’s journey, and questions such as ‘where is my parcel?’ largely answer themselves.
Check that status synchronisation is correctly enabled for each delivery method – this improves after-sales service. Delivery status is updated in real time, and if a buyer wants to return goods, they can do so via Quick Returns using a return code or via a Parcel Locker without having to print a label. If you’re just getting your dispatch process organised, integrate your sales with InPost’s services right from the start and let automation grow alongside your shop!
